My Story

What do you get when you combine a passion to serve the local church, a love for music, and a mind that can’t stop strategizing about how to connect audiences to great experiences? You get Mark Allen Patterson II.

Although Patterson is a New Jersey native, he was raised in the Atlanta, Georgia area, which would prove the perfect combo for his grit and gent personality. Anyone who knows Mark knows he’s an old soul who’s not afraid to speak his mind in the most diplomatic way.

By age 16, Patterson began leading worship in the youth and young adult ministries at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia, Georgia, one of the largest African-American churches in the United States at the time. Within a year, he became a worship leader for the principal praise and worship team of the church, shepherding thousands into worship Sunday after Sunday.

Prior to working in the local church, Mark attended Lee University. There he joined the Voices of Lee ensemble, where he and the group were given the opportunity to showcase their unique sound in the premiere season of NBC’s “The Sing-Off.” The group was so well received that America voted them into the top three groups of the competition.

Patterson went on to contribute to many projects as a background vocalist, most notably for Tasha Cobbs-Leonard’s “Heart. Passion. Pursuit.” album, and co-writing “Power in Praise” on the Stellar Award-winning album, Champion, from gospel music powerhouse Darwin Hobbs.

Patterson ultimately completed his Bachelor of Science in Communication Studies from Indiana University as a personal goal before the birth of his daughter. He says, “I wanted to show my daughter how important it is to make it to the finish line–even if it takes longer than expected.”

Patterson now resides in the greater Atlanta, Georgia area with his wife Charmaine, and their beloved daughter Hannady. He currently serves as the Communications Director at One More Child, a non-profit on a mission to bring Christ-centered services to vulnerable children and struggling families. His latest venture, Patterson Media Group (PMG), launched ConvoRoom — a digital platform aimed at serving creatives by facilitating conversations that inspire personal and professional development.
