I finally hit publish — even though I wasn’t “ready.”
For years, I sat on unreleased episodes of my podcast, ConvoRoom: Conversations with Mentors, Moguls and Legends. Powerful stories. Game-changing insights. But I kept waiting for the “right time” to bring them to light.
And by “right time,” I mean when I had time, energy, mental clarity and the level of polish I thought these episodes deserved.
You probably know where this is going: that time never came.
Open the Vault
What did come, though, was a breakthrough. Last week, I chose progress over perfection. I opened the vault.
I hit publish — not because the timing was perfect, but because it was time.

And if you’re wondering how serious I was about breaking the perfectionism cycle, let me paint the picture: the latest episode begins with an intro I recorded from the parking lot of my daughter’s hair appointment.
The Art of Consistency
That wasn’t Plan A. It wasn’t even Plan Z. It was get it done by any means necessary. And honestly? It felt right.
Not polished. Not planned. But right.
Because sometimes consistency looks like showing up in the shambles.
We talk a lot about discipline and excellence — and yes, those things matter. But there’s something to be said for honoring a commitment even when it looks wildly different from how you imagined it.
Stuck in Draft Mode
Don’t mistake that for going through the motions. This is momentum. This is refusing to let one more week pass with something valuable stuck in draft mode.
And when I pressed publish? Nothing broke. The sky didn’t fall. No one asked, “Hey, did you record that intro from a parking lot?”
Instead, I got to share something meaningful. Something long overdue.
Here’s what I’m taking with me (and I hope you will too):
- Perfect is a moving target. If you wait for ideal conditions, you’ll wait forever.
- Done creates momentum. Action opens doors that overthinking never will.
- Your effort still counts. Even if it’s scrappy. Even if it’s not Instagram-worthy.
- Show up anyway. Some of your best work might come out of imperfect places.
So no, I didn’t have the polished studio moment. I had a few drafts, a car parked outside a beauty salon and a deadline I decided to honor.
And that was enough.
What are you sitting on? What draft is waiting for you to stop aiming for perfect and just hit publish?
This is the week to ditch the excuses.
Get it done. No more waiting for perfect.
